The Differences between Goat Fibers

.

What are the differences between goat fibres ?

In fact the differences are complex and the dividing lines not always clearly defined.

Reference there is continually made to micron, which is simply a unit of measure used to indicate thickness. MFD stands for mean fiber diameter.

Goat fibres differ from wool in several characteristics, as well as in the way they are treated by processors.

With wool the objective generally is to mix in lower- quality fibre to reduce the end-product cost.

Where as with mohair and cashmere the object is to select the best fleeces and the best portions of the fleece to increase the quality and value of the end product.

There are Three main fibres used:

Cashmere

Mohair
