The Correct Fertilizers To Use For pasture Growth in Horse Paddocks

Article submitted by Cassie Tonkin, Sydney Equestrian Supplies

It is important to ensure that sufficient nutrients are available to the young horse pasture in the early stages of growth. You will see far greater results when adding fertilisers to a seed crop rather than just scattering the seed and leaving to settle in.

Seedlings need nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphur and molybdenum to be available nearby in order to achieve maximum growth and yield.

D.A.P (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) is a high analysis product that supplies both nitrogen and phosphorus and is recommended for areas around the Sydney basin.

It is suitable for planting seeds and blends for top dressing of pastures and horticulture.

Phosphorus as found in DAP is more readily available to establishing pastures when placed in a drill row than when broadcast.

The sowing rate for DAP is 4 x 40kg Bags of DAP to one 20kg bag of seed. These two mixed together will sufficiently coat an area of 1 hectare.
