Common Name American Mandrake, Mayapple.

Family: Podophyllaceae.

Known Hazards: The leaves and the roots are very poisonous.

Habitats Moist soils in rich woods, thickets and pastures.

Range: Eastern N. America - Southern Maine to Florida, west to Texas and Minnesota.
